Assistant Director, Alabama Development Office (ADO)

In early 2003, Linda Swann joined the Alabama Development Office (ADO) as Assistant Director for the agency. She oversees various planning activities, provides project support and delivery for business development, and manages the state’s Certified Capital Companies (CAPCO) program.

The mission of ADO is to coordinate economic development resources leading to quality job creation and retention throughout Alabama in multiple segments of the state’s economy. Linda currently serves on the Boards of the Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE) and Design Alabama, on the Advisory Board for Alabama’s Science and Technology Road Map Project, and as ADO’s alternate representative to the Alabama Workforce Development Advisory Council and the Alabama Supercomputer Authority. She also served on the Alabama Commission on Infrastructure.

During her tenure with ADO, Alabama was named “State of the Year” by Southern Business and Development for a record-setting five of the last seven years. The agency also received top honors with Site Selection Magazine’s National Competitiveness Award in 2005 and 2007 for state–level economic development; and Alabama won Area Development magazine’s first ever “Golden Shovel” award and three subsequent “Silver Shovels” for job creation.
